A recipe for a hotdog
  • 4 red onions
  • 45ml olive oil
  • 60ml balsamic vinegar
  • 12 bockwurst (I used Woolworth’s German sausages)
  • 1 x 250g streaky bacon
  • 12 crispy rolls (I used Woolworth’s individual baguettes)
  • Butter
  • Rocket
  • Dijon mustard
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180⁰C.
  2. Peel the onions, quarter and half each quarter. Place the onions on a baking try and drizzle with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 45 minutes.
  3. Roll one piece of bacon around each sausage and place the wrapped sausages on a baking tray. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, turn over and bake for another 10 minutes.
  4. In the mean time cut the rolls open and butter. Place some rocket leaves into the roll.
  5. As soon as the wrapped sausages are cooked place one into each roll and top with the cooked red onions.
  6. Serve with the Dijon mustard on the side. This is absolutely delicious!
