This is a guest post by my daughter, Aimee, about our fun evenings at home. Mixed Berries Punch Recipe for Golden Globes Bingo icon wink She blogs at shrewdtennis.com.

I admit it. I am an absolute pop culture demon. I love movies, television series and most of all books. I’m quite indiscriminate in my liking of genres – I recently saw the films Pitch Perfect and Silver Linings Playbook on one day and would recommend both as excellent – albeit very different – films. Fortunately the rest of my family are quite into these things too and with the Hollywood Awards season upon us – the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Golden Globes and Oscars – the debates about which films and actors will win are plentiful.

While the Oscars might be the highest rated award, it’s the Golden Globes I look forward to most. Not only movies stars are present, but also my favourite actors and actresses from television shows and the brilliant minds behind those shows.

As an added bonus, the ceremony will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler this year. Tina Fey is the famed creator, head writer and star of 30 Rock and the author of my favourite autobiography of all time, Bossypants. If you haven’t read it – please go buy it, I’m pretty confident you will thank me! She is perhaps most famous for her spot on imitation and parody of former US vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Amy Poehler is no less of a pop culture icon. I aspire to the work ethic of her Parks and Recreation character Leslie Knope. Seriously. Fey and Poehler used to chair to Weekend Update segment together on the good old days of Saturday Night Live and were just brilliant.

So I’m excited about the Golden Globes and so in addition to our family compiling lists predicting who will win, we have also developed our very own drinking game to make watching the event even more fun…

It’s basically Bingo. (Who knew you could play bingo online? ) Instead of scoring by numbers however, you score points whenever one of the items listed on the Bingo card occurs – and you get to take a sip whenever it does! If you strike Bingo – you down your drink and start again.

Upon hearing about our plans to turn the Golden Globes into a drinking game, my mother – the author of this blog – said she’d take care of the drinks. She created a punch recipe – and we promptly tested it to make sure it would be good. It is.

So print out your bingo card, make some punch and enjoy the awards!
