The fifth episode of Dinner Divas will be broadcast tomorrow morning, Saturday 10 November, at 08:30 on SABC 2. The time just passed so quickly. To me it feels like last week that the 12 Divas and Anne Myers, from Two Blonds and a Red head filming had our first meeting!
In the first episode both Nina Timm of My Easy Cooking and Kristy Snell of food Monger were put through by the judges. Read more about this, in my part 1 post about Dinner Divas.
The participants in the second episode were Sue Green of Sous Chef and Tami Magnin of Rumtumtiggs. Sue started her blogging as Supagran, which was one of the first blogs that I followed when I started blogging. It was mostly hilarious! She did do food posts from time to time and I was delighted when she started her food blog. I met her 2 years ago and she is just such a loveable person. I met Tami for the first time at our first Dinner Diva Meeting, but since we stay in the same area we became very good friends. I love her blog and was very sad when she was voted off and quite unimpressed with the judges!
In the third episode, Barry Gerber of the blog Potjie / What’s cooking, the only divo that participated, showcased his food. The other participant was the very talented Anel Potgieter of the blog Lifeisazoobiscuit! Anel participated in MasterChef South Africa and ended in 35th place. Barry was unfortunately voted out in this episode.
In the fourth episode Janice Tripepi with her blog of the the same name cooked some Italian cuisine which really impressed. Along with her, Thuli Gogela of Mzansistyle Cuisine, cooked traditional South African cuisine. Janice was selected to go through to the next round and she really deserved this with her beautiful blog where she posts divine recipes with step-by-step instructions and photos.
Tomorrow, I will be cooking alongside Candice Le Noury. Candice’s blog is called the Gorgeous Gourmet and she was also a Masterchef South Africa contestant. She came in 50th position. I genuinely enjoyed cooking alongside her. I was however initially very nervous on the day of cooking. After a while I started calming down and just enjoyed doing what I love most – having fun in the kitchen!
We were not allowed to see the judges that judged our food, but Candice and I peeked out of the place where we were supposed to stay. I did not recognize any of the judges. I thought the lady judge, who looked vaguely familiar, must me a model. She is so beautiful and has the figure of a model. I was only later told that it was actually Caro de Waal, the editor of www.food24.com! I have known Caro for years, via the Internet, but only met her at the Dinner Diva launch! The other two judges are Andrew Lieber of Gourmet Guys and Aubrey Ngcungama, host of Dinner with Aubs.
I enjoyed the whole experience a lot and I really had fun in the kitchen. Please watch the episode tomorrow to see what is happening in the Dinner Diva Kitchen!
