I am convinced that Magnum ice creams must be the most loved ice creams in the world! It is definitely my favourite ice cream and I don’t know many other ice cream lovers (and who doesn’t love ice cream!?) that will not agree with me.
My favourite Magnum is definitely the “Death by Chocolate” one. Well that was until two new flavours were invented! The two new flavours are Black and Pink. Black is an espresso flavoured ice cream covered in a thick layer of dark chocolate.
And my new favourite, Pink, is a delicious pomegranate flavoured ice cream with pomegranate swirls covered in a thick layer of pearlescent pink coloured white chocolate. If you haven’t tried these new flavours yet, you are definitely missing out.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to the official launch party for these two new flavours. Although I have tried both the new flavours before the launch, I could hardly wait for the function. I almost missed the event due to being sick with the flu for a couple of days prior to the launch. At the last minute I however decided to go and it was just the right thing for my nasty flu! It just shows you Magnum ice creams make everything better.
The event took place at the beautiful Shimmy Beach Club in Cape Town.
Guests were asked to wear pink or/and black. We were welcomed with the most delicious pink and black cocktails!
The food was delicious!
The Master of Ceremonies was Janez Veremeiren!
A “Dessert-Off” took place during the event between two leading Cape Town culinary schools namely Capsicum Culinary Studio (Pink Team) and The International Hotel School (Black Team). They had to create some innovative and tasty dishes using the Magnum Pink Pomegranate and Black Espresso ice-creams. Comedian Trevor Gumbi offered his culinary skills to the Pink Team and 5FM DJ, Gareth Cliff assisted the Black Team.
The “Dessert-off” was judged by food blogger, Sam Taylor from Pomegranate days, Kamini Pather, the winner of Masterchef SA 2013 and Top Billing presenter, Jeannie D.
Loads of celebrities attended the event!
Female guests were treated with a Pink and Black manicure.
We received a wonderful gift box with pink and black goodies! (pic from Crushland!)
We also enjoyed a Twitter auction where tweets were used as currency. The guest who tweeted the most within a specified time frame at the launch became the highest bidder and won some great prizes.
The preview Twitter auction at the launch event was merely a teaser for SA’s first ‘live’ Twitter auction taking place on 23 November, where ten luxury prizes will be auctioned off every 15 minutes. To see what prizes can be won and how to participate go here!
DO NOT MISS THE AUCTION!
