My favourite way of spending a Saturday morning is to go to one of the wonderful markets in and around Cape Town. I just love browsing around and looking at the food products on offer. I prefer buying my fruit and vegetables at a market and like to experiment with new products available at the markets.
We normally start or end the market by eating brunch or lunch, sometimes with coffee, or sometimes with wine or a craft beer.
I attended the Spier Secret Festival Market in October last year and it was a wonderful market. Spier is a lovely wine farm and the weather on this specific day was absolutely gorgeous!
The pretty dam at Spier:
Blankets and cushions were available everywhere, where market-goers could relax and enjoy their lunch and a wine or two:
Kamini Pather; South Africa’s Masterchef for 2013 did a cooking demonstration at the Woolworths stall:
We bought lunch at El Burro and it was really delicious!
The good news is that Spier is having another Secret Festival Market, this Saturday, 15 March 2014! If you want to have a wonderful relaxing day, don’t miss this market! Entrance to the market is free. Invite your family and friends and have a lovely day out.
