Every time, when I am starting to feel a teeny bit down or depressed, something reminds me that I am soooo fortunate to live in Cape Town!!
Whether it is summer, winter, autumn or spring, Cape Town has the most amazing scenery! From mountains, beaches, the sea, lights or wine lands, you can visit and explore a variety of different things nearby!
Well, not only is Cape Town and it surrounds beautiful, but there are a variety of events to choose from, almost every weekend… and what a difficult choice it is, to decide what to attend… especially for a foodie like me!!
The previous weekend (29 April to 2 May 2011) was the Cheese Festival at Sandringham Wine Estate. This is one of the most wonderful events on the Cape’s event calendar, and a must to attend every year!! It was previously held at Bien Donné and this was the first year that it took place at Sandringham. Although Sandringham’s premises are much bigger than the previous venue’s, they have decided to still only allow a limited amount of people (the same as previously) to attend the Festival, which made it much more enjoyable and spacious!
The past weekend we had Taste of Cape Town and the Riebeek Valley Olive Festival!. The Olive Festival, voted as one of the best food festivals in the Western Cape, is a “must” for all Olive lovers. The festival, takes place in the Riebeek Valley which consist of Riebeek West and Riebeek Kasteel.
This year will be the 11th time that the festival is taking place! There is no entry fee to this Festival which is spread amongst various venues in the region. If you love olives, make sure to attend this festival next year, where you will find olives in all it’s forms, from dried olives, olive oils, olive tapenades, preserved olives to olive beauty products and anything that accompany olives such as wines, cheeses, breads, bears, etc!!
So guess what event is up next week?
